Hmmm. My thoughts are that the blue wall isn't quite working with the pink floor - in the the top image anyway.
It could be that the colour of the buttons and screens needs to change to something more in line with the liquorice theme to add some visual linkage between to the two. At the moment they look very Star Wars.
You know, I was just about to pick up on the same thing; for me, it's simply that the wall of lights and buttons don't resemble sweet colours enough; they're 'sci-fi' not 'Skittles' or 'Fruit Pastels' - I think, to draw this environment together, the colours of the buttons should synch with the pink, blue and orange - somehow, all the red isn't working; try making the blue dominate the button colour, with orange and pink as accent buttons - or combinations there of.
Cheers for the feedback Tom... i was torn between keeping the floor blue and changing it to pink, but i'll probably keep it blue then. and i'm currently working on the buttons and lights so hopefully i can get those to link in better...
