'The Chapel' breakdown analysis...

The Chapel by Patryk Kizny bears similar resemblances to the direction i would like to take my own environment animation in. Therefore, to help understand the pacing and shot structure i might use for the animatic and final piece, i decided to do a quick analytical breakdown of the animation.

The Chapel Analysis:

Animation Length (Excluding Titles): 3 minutes 13 seconds
Number of Shots (Excluding Titles): 37 Shots
Number of Motion Shots: 18 Shots
Number of Static Shots: 19 Shots
Number of CU Shots: 17 Shots
Number of Medium/Wide Shots: 20 Shots
Longest Shot: 20 seconds
Shortest Shot 1-2 Seconds

Based on this, i created a rough estimate of the numbers and figures my own animation would have. As the length The Chapel is roughly a third more than my own animation, i worked these figures out by reducing the numbers by a third. However, these are only estimates and obviously my shot structure will vary from this, this is just a start point; some guidlines to follow...

Animation Length (Excluding Titles): 2 minutes 30 seconds

Number of Shots (Excluding Titles): 25 Shots
Number of Motion Shots: 12 Shots
Number of Static Shots: 13 Shots
Number of CU Shots: 11 Shots
Number of Medium/Wide Shots: 14 Shots
Longest Shot: 20 Seconds
Shortest Shot: 1-2 Seconds
