The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing...
The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing was a really interesting documentary that gave details on the history of editing and how it has developed using famous talking heads like editors and directors as well as lots of examples of films. This documentary was extremely helpful when it came to writing my essay because i was able to show the context of editing by using the information of its history and development that i gathered. There were also a lot of helpful quotes that i could use when talking about editing. This documentary also shows just how important editing is, and for so long it went unnoticed and editors were "invisble". Now it shows just how important the relationship between an editor and director is, especially in the digital era where most of the film can actually be made in the cutting room, during the post-production stage. Since i started editing in college, i fell in love with what you can do, and time always seem to fly by so quickly. Editing is definitely something i'd really like to do in the film industry and this documentary shows just how important an editor is in creating different paces and modds, through using different editing techniques; there are so many possible ways of editing a film.
